Dreaming in the Guggenheim
Attended the Animal Collective and Danny Perez music event at The Guggenheim last night… I love how this museum opens its doors for such amazing evenings of people, music and booze. No art on the walls, just amazing shadows from the light show and incredible ambiance from the music. A great night at a great venue.
Took a bunch of photos of the space, check the out on my flickr.

I’ve just been introduced to St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, and have developed an instant crush on this songstress. Not only is she beautiful, but her music is really sweet. check her out.
also found this gig with Andrew Bird through one of my favorite websites today, http://www.blogotheque.net/.

Michael Lavine & Thurston Moore
Got to meet 2 of my favorites last night. Sonic youth has been part of my life for a loooong time and Michael Lavine’s photos have inspired many daydreams… Both have come together and published a book portraying the birth and death of Grunge. The photos are kick ass. Pick one up and take a ride back to your (for me) high school years…

listen to Basquiat’s funky beat bop

Unbeknown to many, the tragically brilliant American artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, who set the art world alight with his neo-expressionist work before dying of an overdose in 1988, also produced a hip hop track of some note, collaborating with fellow graffiti artist Rammellzee under the mindful direction of the legendary Fab 5 Freddy. The resulting track, Beat Bop, is a spicy window into New York in the early 1980s.
