AlterEgo – The Movie

I watched this movie last night…and I am incredibly impressed with Daniel’s work. It all really came together and it’s a solid piece of documentation. This movie is a robust view of the art form, its history and its current perils. It’s exciting, informative, absorbing and personal. I love it, can you tell? If graffiti is somehow part of your life, you need to watch this. No, actually, everyone should. The DVD is available here.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now. My good friend Daniel has finished his film. He has traveled the world to capture great graffiti artists doing their work. I am so proud of him and this will be a kick ass movie. If you happen to be in Berlin, go to the premiere. If you are stuck at work (like me), check out the website alterego-themovie.com.

Michael Lavine & Thurston Moore

Got to meet 2 of my favorites last night. Sonic youth has been part of my life for a loooong time and Michael Lavine’s photos have inspired many daydreams… Both have come together and published a book portraying the birth and death of Grunge. The photos are kick ass. Pick one up and take a ride back to your (for me) high school years…

Frank Gehry’s Beekman Tower

Yesterday was a cloudless, 65 degree gorgeous day in NYC. Spent it with my sister and friends, nice brunch then off to D.U.M.B.O. One of my favorite spots to take my visits to. I haven’t been to this side of BK in a while and right away noticed a GIANT new building going up in Manhattan’s downtown skyline. On our walk back over the BK bridge, noticed the new facade being constructed… It’s funky, wavy, different and I loved it. I also thought to myself it looked very Frank Gehry. Looked it up this morning and found it to be a Gehry designed Beekman Tower on Spruce St. I’m excited for the new building… and I think it will be a nice compliment the Freedom tower and other WTC buildings. Such a new and modern directions to such an old city. Kinda crazy seeing it change so drastically before our eyes.

More about the project here.
